The C.O.'s CAMP SONG
. At Much Chideock on the Hill
We all arrived in very heavy showers
At Much Chideock on the Hill
The cooks had already been here hours
We all unpacked the buses
put the luggage in our tents
the rain was then torrential
But the dinner was the best
And who had the biggest plateful?
Our Ryan, yes, you guessed!
At Much Chideock on the Hill
At Much Chideock on the Hill
Sunday saw us water in the sunshine
At Much Chideock on the Hill
On the beach our sand-castles looked so fine
The wind it blew, the rain it rained.
Some of the braver walked
We waited patiently for them, we just sat and talked
The coastal path had disappeared,
it just came to nought
At Much Chideock on the Hill
At Much Chideock on the Hill
To catch some fish our campers went to try
At Much Chideock on the Hill
They learned that BB Fisher folk don’t lie!
Alan told us how to live life as a bee
Cliff was heard exclaiming “I want to be a tree”
Neptune must have heard his cry
he fished one from the sea.
At Much Chideock on the Hill
At Much Chideock on the Hill
To gain the camp badge was 3 campers goal
At Much Chideock on the Hill
Andy Willitt had to be the tent pole
Activities are good at camp -no statement could be truer
But if you should get bored here - we have the perfect cure
You can come and help the C.O. empty buckets of manure
At Much Chideock on the Hill
At Much Chideock on the Hill
Darren in the run was proved the fastest
At Much Chideock on the Hill
Luke Wicks so full of Mars bars is the sweetest.
Eve tried to stay up all night but the C.O. wouldn’t allow ‘er
The swim pool was so popular-we al;l went there for a shower
Now Daniel Eastwood’s been there too- he smells as sweet as a flower!
At Much Chideock on the Hill
At Much Chideock on the Hill
The new bugle calls were really out of order
At Much Chideock on the Hill
St Andrew’s Flag appeared from o’er the border
The Knock Out games were noisy
and lots of water did trickle
The fashion models so well dressed - they nearly raised a whistle
And Stuart kept his balloon intact - then burst it on a thistle
At Much Chideock on the Hill
At Much Chideock on the Hill
Ged the Medic has been so very busy
At Much Chideock on the Hill
Dan’s foot has made him feel quite dizzy
he hops around the camp site with a long pole as a lance
He’d play a game of football, given half a chance.
And outside Bridport hospital he did a Russian dance
At Much Chideock on the Hill
At Much Chideock on the Hill
Our week in Dorset is coming to a close
At Much Chideock on the Hill
We hope you liked the camp site that we chose
We’ve heard about the king of the Hill in the talks at night
Now don’t forget what you heard under the marquee lights
And come next year to find out more on the Isle of Wight
At Much Whitecliff by the sea
Written by Mrs Lynda Turner and sung by her old man, the C.O. Mike Turner at the end of the Camp Concert
SUNDAY AUGUST 26th 2001 Campers Sunday
John had had to remain at home during camp week this year to look after his very ill mother.
The Campers Service
Ged shared with us a skit and the headings of his talks through the weeks , David led the offering prayer, Glenys led a prayer, Andrew and Emma presented facts about Bonded Child Labour, the BB International Awareness Project that the camp appeal went towards. Ryan led a prayer.
Afterwards various folk came up to me to tell me how much I was missed,
Ryan (who’s also told me how he has been accepted by a college for a year and if he gets good grades he will go on for further studies, his aim to become a RSPCA Inspector.
Paul, Matt, Darren and Jill, Barnaby and his Mum,
Cliff, who thanked me for sending the card, Lee, Mike and Lynda, Ged.
Paul told me how they went Quad Biking and was sure I would have done so had I been there.
Mike was pleased with the year books as he had not expected me to fold and staple them. He told me that my correspondence had reached them safely and that they had dressed Andy Willitt up as Neptune’s assistant to deputise for me in the concert and he has got very excited in a skit of Andy making a cake, with plenty of water and eggs.
He at one time packed up all his kit and his case with his wet towels inside and was waiting to leave with the tent tied laced up on the inside and when Colin got back in, Andy told him that his phone was not much cop as he had not been able to reach his Mum with it.
Several said that he appeared lost without me. Also Andy forgot to take his camera, and his trainers, and a couple of other vital bits of his equipment. They all seem to have had a great time as usual. I look forward to the video and the printout of Ged’s of his notes of his series of talks
